The crime rate in this country is increasing rapidly, with most of the suspects being idle young men, this problem needs to change, said Officer Tony Funnies, the head of the police force. Many young men who leave school at such a young age find it very hard to get employment; they therefore may end up stealing and getting involved in other illegal acts. Having them enrolled in military service can give them something to do which will decrease the number of boys on the streets and therefore the crime rate may also go down. By saying that this service should not be compulsory are we saying that we want the crime rate to increase and many innocent people to suffer? Military training can be defined as a process which intends to establish and improve the capabilities of military personnel in their respective roles. This means that young men who Join this training force can further their physical as well as their mental traits. A young man without proper schooling or education can gain more respect and consideration for others within a few months at this military force, Director Martin Freeman also stated in a television interview. These boys can now develop their qualities, becoming more obedient and hardworking youths. The Military Force of Trinidad and Tobago is a training school run on discipline and for those who cannot read or write , they are allowed to attend courses within the school in English and Arithmetic. This is a great opportunity for young men and should be compulsory for those not studying or involved in gainful employment because of the many qualities than can be attained while attending this military force. On completing the military training, Job opportunities become available to these young men. Even college degrees become available in a small emitted due to the fact that these young men did not attend educational schooling. Jobs such as national security officers, coast guards, police officers or even security for businesses or schools are available. If these young men who did not attend school were to miss out on an opportunity such as military training, they would not be able to find employment easily and therefore commit to a life of crime or illegal activities to enable themselves the funds to purchase food or even a place to live. Would you really want that to occur for these young men? This would cause an increase in crime and affect our country negatively. Military service and training should become compulsory for these boys because as we can see, without it, the crime rate would increase rapidly and the amount of street children would become overbearing due to the fact that they cannot help themselves develop in the world today. In Conclusion, there are many positive benefits of this service. These boys will be transformed to well behaved men and have many qualities that will help them to get further in life. Rebirth in Lady Lazarus, Fever 103, Getting There, and Cut  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚   The Ariel-period poems of Sylvia Plath demonstrate her desire for rebirth, to escape the body that was "drummed into use" by men and society. I will illustrate the different types of rebirth with examples from the Ariel poems, including "Lady Lazarus," "Fever 103," "Getting There," and "Cut." "Lady Lazarus," the last of the October poems, presents Plath as the victim with her aggression turned towards "her male victimizer (33)." Lady Lazarus arises from Herr Doktor's ovens as a new being, her own incarnation, "the victim taking on the powers of the victimizers and drumming herself into uses that are her own" (33). Linda Bundtzen also sees the poem as "an allegory about the woman artist's struggle for autonomy. The female creature of a male artist-god is asserting independent creative powers" (33). Plath confronts Herr Doktor: Herr God, Herr Lucifer Beware Beware. Out of the ash I rise with my red hair And I eat men like air. (Plath 246-247) Lady Lazarus after her psychic death became stronger than her creator: " Male- female antagonism ends with the woman defiantly asserting power over her body and releasing its energies for her own ends" (Bundtzen 233). While the outcome of the poem is positive, "Plath turns on herself, identifying with her oppressor, and sadistically punishes her body in the process of recreating it" (Bundtzen 237). Plath did not see the rebirth process as a pleasant experience, but one that is expected of her "I guess you could say I've got a call" (Plath 245). She, however, sees the benefits that come from her suffering and continues the process again and again. "Fever 103" is also about a women releasing herself from... ...poems what she thought she could not or did not achieve in life: the ability to do as she wanted, to be a mother and wife but not constricted into a domestic hell or to be pinned down by the oppressive society which did not accept her for being a poetess. Importance of Being On Time Essay

Scheduling the work day is one of the most important duties any leader in the Marine Corps or the Armed forces in general, tackles each and every day. Being at the right place at the right time for any member of the Armed forces is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America. It’s because of this that being on time is remarkably important. Dependability, accountability, consistency and discipline are all crucially important for all members of the armed forces. Being on time shows that a Marine is dependable and has his or her priorities straight. Being at the appointed place of duty means to be there on time and has always been one of the most important aspects of being a Marine. Failure to be on time not only hinders mission ready capability and readiness, but also can without a doubt cost unnecessary loss of life. It is important to realize that it is necessary for those in the Armed Forces are held to a high standard. Punctuality remains and always will be an extremely vital aspect of military bearing and discipline. It has a direct correlation to a Marine appearance, combat readiness, mission effectiveness, and essentially every aspect of military life and responsibility. I cannot place enough emphasis on how important being on time constantly is. For instance; a Marine who is late or does not report at all to a place at the time ordered effectively compromises and diminishes the efficiency of which the task or mission at hand can be completed. In an extreme case a Marine who is not on time to relieve the current guard’s post would cause the combat effectiveness and readiness of the unrelieved guard to be greatly reduced. This would be caused by fatigue, or lack of supplies, etc. Consequently the guard on post could be compromised and the security of the area could be breached. These things do occur, however, they can undoubtedly be avoided by merely, once again, being on time. The importance of being on time is so you will be early to where ever you need to be and accomplish whatever you need to do. If you are early you will always have time to make sure everything that you need to do is straight and there aren’t any errors in what you need to do. It is important to be on time for work because it shows that you are dedicated in the things that you do and it can help you in moving up in your field of expertise. It is important to be on time in the military because you will be at the right place at the right time, you will be accountable for and if anything was to happen no one can accuse you of anything because you were where you were suppose to be at the right time. Whenever you show up late to something it shows that you have no discipline or respect for anyone else because now everyone has to wait for you to arrive instead of starting on time or possibly earlier. It is important to be on time because it shows leadership, commitment, loyalty and that you are responsible enough to be trusted without supervision. It is very important to be on time because it is crucial to the mission, my leadership, and me as a Marine.

My Service Learning Project At A Community Outreach Program

My service learning project took place at a community outreach program in a disadvantaged low income area without programs for children to participate in. A former ballet dancer, now instructor, decided to open up a ballet class to provide a program for the area children to take part in at a low donation cost, which will be applied to a building fund for a permanent location to be built onto the church. My role in this service learning position was to help organize paperwork and files, collect donations, provide communication to the families, and help in any way I could when needed. Honestly, I was not exactly sure what to expect of this service learning project in regard to the diversity of the community and the cultures of the people that I would be working with. I knew that the area was mostly populated by low income families. I feel that I gained a greater understanding of people who are in a different financial social standing than I am. It also opened me up not only to the vast differences but also the similarities between their lives and my own. Because of my volunteering experience I am more likely to promote civic engagement to others. I feel that it provides an opportunity to become closer to the community in which we reside.
